Well, I'm a newbie here and I have looked at many of the reviews other members have posted; good and bad posties on the KJ. I just bought my KJ with 16,340 km on the dial and decided this weekend, to drive on a nice stretch of hiway to test the Liberty. Upon coming to a complete stop on the hill, I noticed the car would not move upon acceleration. It was like the transmission was stuck yet it was in Drive. Reluctantly, I forced it on the side of the road and turned off the ignition. I walked around all 4 tires and checked the rotors for smell or heat...nothing. Left front caliper was warmer than all the others though but not RED HOT or close to it.
I jumped back in and started the car again and made my way down the street, nothing else as if nothing happened. My own conclusion (although I may be wrong) is the caliper seizing for the moment but it did release upon restarting.
I did not drive it ******* the highway, just a few long curves and not much braking either. I'm concerned that If I drive it for 2 or 3 hours, will the brakes seize? I really don't want to be stuck somewhere far from civilization. I have lots of warranty left, yet not sure if I were to have it serviced, which caliper to fix if any?
Any suggestions? I thought, maybe if I cleaned all the pistons and sliders on each caliper, and bleed the braking system, that it may help.
