I appreciate all the help. I ended up getting a bracket extension which solved the problem perfectly. It is designed mostly for the Wranglers but the way the extension was made it's almost universal and actually fit for the KJ.

Spare out further, more weight hanging out more from the body, more issues later on down the road
Could of saved time and money and did what was suggested :shrug::icon_lol:

Yep....my 02 rattled like a bag of rocks. Took it off and replacing it with this.....still a bit more work.

I did rotate the actual bracket but it didn't push the tire out enough for me to close the hatch. But with the bracket extension, it worked perfectly so no two handed closes on the back hatch anymore.
