Goodyear M/T R's or buy a set of Treadwright tires?

How many miles are on your MT/R's? They are already worn out? You haven't had them that long have you?

If you wore out those MT/R's quick, I would go with Treadwrights. I have no complaints with mine; 20,000+ miles and they are still going strong.

I wonder if they ship to Canukville though. May have to look into that.

I'd get the real thing,my 2 cents.I've seen alot of those retreads come through the shop and to say the least not impressed.Had some take as much as 30oz+ to balance if they balanced at all,caps seperating from the carcass,and all that fun stuff.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of 5 of those new MT/R's myself and sell the Toyo's.Funny thing is a set of five 35x12.50x15's is $200 cheaper then what your paying.

36000 KM! Not allot but awesome tires during that time!

I'm thinking of shipping my old M/T R's to Treadwright for regrooving and keeping them for a rainy day!

Don.t care which tire you buy.That said,my treadwights took about an ounce per tire to balance,they wear well.

Ryan, Since your fronts are in need the most of replacement, and I do not think you have taken a measurement of tread depth on rear? Are they still good enough 4 now?, your spare is still good...
Why not simply start with two new front MTR's?
and then two treadwrights for rear. That way you could tell wear differences and actually be able to compare them in possibly ride quality and handling after rotation...

Dunno about Treadwrights in Canada... no dealers and by the time you ship them here it's MT/R pricing. (Unless you get them on in WA perhaps...)

Looked at MT/Rs and I guess you BC guys get a lot less snow and ice than here because even the tire guy upselling them said they sucked hard in our winters. Doesn't seem like much of a highway tire judging by the wear and rolling resistance either, we drive a long way on bitumen before getting to our intended dirt.

Seems like a lot of dough for a one trick pony, no? Just my 2/100ths.

I still say something is fishy with your MTR's wearing that quick
I know of a few guys running them and they are all in the 20-35K mile range
and on things like 4 door JK's with heavy bumpers and winches
even a fairly built up FJ ,heavier than a KJ, that has 30K+ miles and lots of tread
heck mine have 6K and still look new
and I have crap for an alignment 4 well worn shocks and a Detroit

Have to admit after a quick browse this weekend at the shop the Goodyear MT/R "look and feel" the best compared to the other stuff they had in stock. Mostly ATs so no real comparison, but the Firestone Destination MT just didn't seem like the in the same game, but was a bit cheaper.

Guess Canadians as usual get the shaft on another set of consumer goods. Lucky American Jeepers... maybe you guys could host an annual "tire toss" contest to see who can heft new tires over the little fence someplace along the Washington State border

Ive had my treadwrite gard dog mts since september and they are a great tire, amazing in the snow. it only took 3 oz to balance and there not that heavy I would highly recomend at least calling them and talking with them there customer service is outstanding...

I've looked at them at the local Wally World...
Talked to a few locals who have run those tires, and one works for
Walmart tire centre 1 mile up the road from us!...
He say:
Made exclusively for Walmart. Made to sell for cheap price
Are made of "Off shore" products more than likely!
But overall ok.
"You get what you pay for!"

Ok, so now I am considering going with 265-75-16" Goodyear M/T R Kevlar tires.

Only $14.00 more per tire.

Thing is, I have a brand new 245-75-16" spare tire.
In the event of flat, will the 245-75-16" tire cause major differential trauma/problems if I need to run it as a spare?

The difference in Tire Circumference between the two sizes is: is 3.88"%*.

Tire Diameter between a 245-75-16" (30.47" tall/actual tire hight 30.7" tall-Tire Circumference 95.71")
and a 265-75-16" (31.65 tall/actual tire hight 31.9" tall-Tire Circumference 99.43")

After all, this is strictly for "Mall Crawling" you know!
And every man needs an extra inch where ever possible!
Gotta take it where you can get it ya know!
