Has anyone full removed the front wheel liner on their KJ? I trimmed mine up a little when I trimmed the front bumper a while ago. I was considering just removing the wheel liner all together. I wasn't sure if that would leave anything open in to the engine bay or anything. Also, I noticed it appeared that the plastic part for the pinch weld is part of the wheel liner so I didn't want to remove it all and have that expossed either. I don't have my pinch weld hammered down or anything.

I just thought it would look cleaner without the liner in there as opposed to how it is now with the bottom front part trimmed up.

Without it in there it looks like there are lots of places to get mud and snow stuck. I wouldn't suggest it!

Hmmm yeah it does now that I get to see how it looks behind it. I noticed you have the front black trim piece removed as well. Is ist possible to remove that piece and keep the wheel liner in? I wasn't sure how much of the liner was reinforced in place by being attatched to that wheel trim piece.

Flare and inner fender are attached together, removing the inner liner weakens the flare
Of course people are running without the inner fender liner but it covers up a real ugly area

I was thinking of removing the flare as well. Just to make it look different. After seeing how it looks behind the liner and with the flare off I think I'll leave it be though. I liked how it gave the tires that open exposed look but yeah.

Until it raines or snows and you coat the whole side of your KJ with crap and can not have the windows opened even a little or you will get splashed.I know since basically I'm running without flares with my tires sticking out about 8" on each side in the front.

It's hard to see but on the fronts I cut most of the inner liner off, just left enough to attach to the flares and cover the huge gap, then I used small self tapping screws to keep it in place in the wheel well(be careful where you screw them in!!!!).That also helps keep the junk from building up and entering your front doors, the rear have been completely gone for years and have no issues but I wash my Jeep every week also.

Yes I know it's not cut straight,I was rather drunk at the time and using a dremal with a sideways cutting bit which is not the easiest thing in the world to do/use to cut a straight line.

Yeah that looks pretty raggidy lol. Didn't realize it looked that bad under neath. I was hoping it was cleaner looking. Of course I guess if that was the case everyone would probably be running with it all removed.

Been broke lately so just been trying to find some do it yourself non costly things I can do to make the Jeep look different while at the same time giving me something to keep myself busy and something to work on to keep my mind off stuff.

Know what you mean about being broke , no job for quite a while has cut back on major parts buying. SO..........I have turned to cardboard and tape, problem is at 65-70 MPH it tends to blow off and you have to start all over :roflbow:

Well it all started when I started modifying my toy trucks at age 5 ................:icon_mrgreen::rotflmao:
The Matrix will be getting modified some what over the next few weeks if I have time
have some patterns already made , narrowed down to 3 possible ways we may go with it. LED turns signals made for a hot rod are in now so thats part of the overall plan

The above cardboard and tape modification has been wind tunnel tested now ! Well actually highway tested to 60 MPH
Was working on it in between doing a lift and forgot to take it off, ran in town to eat and just when I got home remembered it, thought my pattern was gone!!!!
Nope still there sitting on the Matrix :roflsquared::roflsquared::roflsquared:
