For the front, what parts do I need in order to change to 4.10. obviously I need the pinion and ring gear, but is there anything else I would need?

I guess for the rear all I need is the ring and pinion right?

Thinking about regearing to get some more get up and go and to get better mPG. This will be a shop job too as this is beyond my abilities.

Thanks!

Or, to make it easier... just get the ring/pinion and the the master overhaul kits for the front and rear differentials.

I used this thread when I ordered mine - you can order from JBA, or you you source the parts from other 4x4 companies.

Thanks Jayme! I forgot about that site.

Not sure if the pocket book can handle this or not. Lockers would totally be out of the question. I need to find a good shop to do it too.

Just remember that if you opt. out of the locker
When you do put one in you will pay for the same labor
twice because it is the same for just gears or just a locker
or both at the same time
It may be worth the wait

This has been my dilemma. I have to have my rear axle rebuilt (howls louder than I can turn up the radio), but money is tight. To rebuild back to stock w/ open diff is about $800. Having them purchase and install a Detroit Tru-trac at the same time would only add $400 to the total. The best prices I have found so far for the Tru-trac is about $600 just for the unit, then there's the labor to pull the rear apart again and install the locker.

You might consider taking your vehicle to an automotive college and have a senior year class do the work for you.
I know people who have done that and have saved hundreds of dollars in labour!

I opted out of the lockers as well due to lack of funding. :( A project for later on down the road, I guess.

$800 To rebuild?
That sounds very high for an 8.25
We had a Ford 9.75 rebuilt for $550 including seals
and bearings
