Ive heard on here that if your lifted that you can use durango shocks on the rears. Now if so, what size lift is it best with, whats the talles and shortest you can use on durango shocks? How is the ride? does it matter which durango shocks you go with? which years durango. Any responses would be great, and to get all the info in one section. thanks

You will need at least 1.5" of lift or more
that is because the shocks are 2" longer than OE KJ shocks
problem is that they also are 2" longer when collapsed so you need to extend your bump stops 2"
so really you gain nothing over going with a stock length OME ,old man emu
shock

Actually you do gain considerable droop on the other side.

Skyjacker 2.5" KJ shocks............
You must be registered for see images attach

OME N132 shocks,not the OME N132L's.............
You must be registered for see images attach

Rancho 17004 stock Durango shocks.............
You must be registered for see images attach

Now do not mind the rear bumpers, they give false impressions, look at the rear axle angle compared to the gas tank skid, same OEM skid in all 3 pics and all 3 pics is max rear flex.Oh and all 3 pics I have a 3" rear extended bumbstops installed that came with my SkyJacker lift.

how do/did you like the durango shocks in comparison?
I can only speak for the Rancho's,other brands with less quality will not be the same.By the way the Rancho's are about $75 each and do have a lifetime warranty.

The Rancho's gave me better flex and ride over the OME shocks, though I have a very heavy KJ.With the OME's the rear would bounce to much and the Rancho's fixed that.

For Durango shocks, the year I'm assuming you'd want is the 2nd gen, 04-09.

I added Durango shocks to my rene with my daystar lift. They work great. And saved me a lot of cash over every other option.

Ranchos RSX 17004 been on the rear of mine with the lift for 80,000 plus miles, still going good and I have a lot of extras in the rear and pull trailers quite often. Hard to beat them

they are the same price as the gabriel units, do we know anything about their manufacturer or their quality

Does it really matter? You can replace these 3 times for less than the Rancho's. Not to mention the 2 year warrenty on them. If you want cheap this is the route, if you want quality and high price go Rancho.

This is what Napa says.

Depends on you driving conditions, usually about 40,000-50,000. Mine are still fine at 60,000, but my drving has been about 80% highway.

Bought mine with 63,000 on it and not one problem with any of the stock stuff before i upgraded.

ya i got 120k on my kj and i thought they felt fine but im pretty sure if you threw new stuff in that it would feel vastly improved

That's what I'm thinking...I bet I'd feel a diff. for sure.

But, I can't feel how much they've worn, as I bought my KJ used....
