Why would you want to keep the Wrangler STs? :) I got rid of mine after I almost slammed into the rear of a minivan. They had at least 30k left on them too.

Save yourself the pain and change the tires now, too. I'm not sure how the previous owner managed to live with the Wrangler SR-A tires that were on the '02 that I bought for 36000 miles. I wanted to get rid of them after about 36 miles.

I switched off the stock OEM tires at 15,000 because I couldn't stand them any longer. They were the Goodyear HP's. Swap them for something better and you will think you were driving a different vehicle.

That bad!? I run HPs and I think they are OK on dry surface.. It is pretty bad on wet surface, especially after treadwear kicks in. But I am looking forward to swapping my tires and driving a completely different vehicle.. :p

That sounds EXACTLY like my story.... after I almost rear ended that minivan, I went to my dorm, looked up the nearest Belle Tire, and went to buy my new tires that next day.... to make things even better, they were offering a student discount! Who could beat that? :) My odometer: 15490

I still have those same tires... on a different KJ, and while they're worn now, the STILL don't lock up in the rain.

Junk the tires if your getting new wheels. Do it all at once and you will be very happy. With the weight of the steel wheels the stock tires will probably be even worse in wet weather.

i dumped my STs with 9000 miles on em and got my revos......AWESOME tires!
couldnt wait to get rid of em, they were horrible! on top of that, it'd cost you $50 to get em dismounted and remounted...why bother? lol good luck in whatever decision you make!

It was raining today and I didnt think I was going to get up our hill without putting it into 4wd. My locker was being the awesome engineered piece that it is and was only putting torque to one wheel(I was going straight too). I was sitting there on out concrete driveway with ONE wheel spinning. I had to let off the gas twice and it finally kicked in with a big BANG. That thing it going to break my axle..
