Just purchased a liberty and the passenger side cv shaft is gone..But it's got this bullet looking thing inside the differential where the shaft would go. i'm a little confused as to what it is. i've never changed a cv shaft before and i assumed there's just supposed to be splines there to slide the new shaft in?

That is where the Int. shaft would sit... and it should have splines ... but I have no idea what that thing is. Maybe just a plug of some kind?

Yea im confused. On the passenger side is there a shaft that comes out of the differential then the cv shaft slides over it or is it a female end and the cv shaft slides into it??

Exactly ....

Can you remove it? ie pull it straight towards you *carefully* as there is a seal with bearings behind it...

It will move back and forth just a little but it catches as if there was a clip or something holding it. And it turns when u turn the driveshaft so it cant be just a plug. Where can i get a intermediate shaft at?

Well it is acting just like the Int shaft then ... that's a c clip on the opposite end holding it in most likely .. a good tug and it should come out. If that is an intermediate shaft you are looking at it has been ground down so badly it's hardly recognizable ...lmao

I got mine on ebay

The clips are already on the intermediate shaft when you get it - nothing to install or add.

As for what caliber bullet you have in your diff - I have no idea... Seriously, I've never seen that before. The intermediate shaft doesn't have a means to accept that 'bullet' - there should just be splines there that fit over the shaft. That's gotta be a plug of some sort.

so you slide the shaft in with the clips installed??? i assumed like anything else you'd slide the shaft in then snap the clips into place on the opposite end of whatever you slid it through.

Yep, the intermediate shaft on the passenger side and the CV axle on the driver's side just pop in with the clips installed. Don't have to go internal to install anything.
