Hi,

Picked up my Jeep yesterday....its ace!

Does anyone know if there was a factory option of front and rear parking sensors on the libby/cherokee..??

Mine has both, 2 sensors at the front and 2 at the rear.. The front ones are switched on by a small toggle switch on top of the sterring cowl..

The reason I ask is that the rear ones aren't great, and before I approach the dealer I would like to know if they are aftermarket or not.

Cheers
Mark

When they are working..they are cool..

The wife has a roofless mini and they are fitted as standard (you can't see out the back too well!!)

The front ones are on a switch, as there is no way of telling you are parking!!?? Also very good for tailgating people!!

When I get the rears sorted I will tell you how its going...

Very tidy installation

The Liberty's in Korea (also called Cherokee) have the parking distance thing as a standard option. But it is difficult to say whether they are aftermarket or simply import/international model Libby's come with it. My 97 Ford (my previous car), also import/international, had power folding mirrors and the US models did not.

BTW, how much does a Cherokee retail for in the UK? You guys won't believe how much they retail for in Korea. Jeeps here are luxury vehicles! Peoples' eyes pop out when I tell them how much I got my US model Libby. Wow1.gif

Forget the hitch! Check out that tire cover! I like that! Do they sell those over here in the States?

Standard fit in the UK as the nice policemen are so **** about number plate sizes and positions...

They have got to make sure the number plate recognition software can get you on the motorway if you dare to do +10% and +2mph over the limit

....I would dream of not having to run a front number plate...the jeep looks so much better.

Might have to move to Spain!!

i think this tire cover is standar in export models, in Chile are the same, to change the tire, you have to take 2 nuts out for the cover, then three from the tire, one with secury lock

it has a cable to light the plate, so i will put another in the harness to switch on a light mounted in the cover for easy back up at night

next time i open it i will send the part number

UPDATE ON PARKING SENSORS
The rear parking sensors fitted to my jeep were aftermarket and were useless...

I did some digging...and pure luck...led me to a set of genuine Jeep items.

These have and additional 2 sensors in the wheel cover (export only??)

The part number is KKJ103010...retails about £160 +vat

The kit is great..it has a little speaker on the top left D pillar trim with an LED...the tone of the signal changes and gets faster the closer the obstacle...the instructions and templates were first class too...

Installation said 1.5 hrs...it took me 3 hrs (I used to run for the Ford World Raly Team Electrical Department!!)...slightly optimistic!!

I will post some pictures soon...

Heres the Jeep Reversing sensors installed, there are four!

It is very accurate now, low tone and constant tone equates to exactly 50cm.

I don't know If i would have done it, had someone not already had a go (and drilled the bumper)

:-k
