WHAT!!! Liberty comes with drums? Mine has disks on all 4 corners. What model and years came with drums?

The 2002 had rear drums, my 03 has 4 wheel disc, so I believe it was only the first year that has rear drums.

Wow, you're doing great. Much faster than me.
Yeah, my rear drums looked awful too when I rebuild them.

That looks great. I wanted to do that (double DIN), but I chickened out. Found that there were more repairs needed and decided to wait it out.

Thank you for showing the radio installation, The Metra kit (I thought) attached the radio to the face plate, but you were able to mount it to the original screw location, much better than attaching to the face plate.

Jeep’s been sitting untouched for a couple weeks now. Knees are probably going in for full rebuild and physical therapy real dang soon. Dr appt for next week to get the rebuild schedule. Sharp pains in right and heavy dull ache in left. Long history of damage to both.

I lead an active life and this is impacting it deeply.

Well, surgery date is set for end of March. Guess I’m going to have to push thru the pain and get the rear brakes back together. We’ve got 7-9” of snow on the ground and it’ll be needed for PT trips. Wish the temps would warm up just a bit. Teens in the garage is “holy crap, where did my fingers go weather”.

My father had one knee done, but here in CA they cancelled all surgeries, so he's not even on a waiting list at this point. They told him he's just gonna have to wait until things "get back to something like normal." So, I feel for you.

Got fed up with the Jeep on stands. Knee’s gonna just have to suck it up and deal. lol

Left rear’s almost all together. Need to crack the bleed port and retract the wheel cylinder fully. The drum will never go back on as it sits!

Aaaaaand it’s in the ground! New shoes/pads/rotors/drums/hardware kits and flushed the system. Battery’s on charge because it hadn’t been started in two months.

Well, drat. Put the charger on for four hours. Battery was showing 12.4 at that point. Added the boost box and it cranked. For about 3 seconds. Meter showed under 11V on the battery at that point. It's out and headed for the scrapper tomorrow. Time to buy yet another battery this winter. #2 out of 2.

Stunning what a new battery that holds a charge will do. It's playtime with the Liberty finally. Starts, runs smooth and has a nice rumble with the catback. Got a few things to do later this week when the weather improves again.

Bad batteries on these will do crazy things to them, glad you found it and replaced
as far as your knee(s) if you are doing all it seems you are you will do good
My Mom had both of hers replaced last one about 5 years ago and did great
Dr said she got along a lot better since she was so active and her muscles were built up good in her legs
Of course at 89 shes a bit slower anymore but gets around good
Can even still get in the 03 if she has to even when its lifted and she is only 5 foot tall LOL
In another few years I'll need both knees and a hip, too many stupid things when younger ! ;)

Putting some miles on the old girl the last couple days. Post office, grocery store, yadda. It's feeling pretty good now. Suspension's tight, tires have a hum, but not obnoxious. Same with the catback exhaust. Just right.

On to the next project for this adventure.

Knocked together a new Harbor Freight 40x48 trailer that's been collecting cobwebs in the basement since forever. It's going to be a minimal teardrop camper if things seem copacetic on the trial fit of wood. As in 40"w x 72"l x 48"h small. Single, narrow bed that doubles as a couch, fold down wall table, small TV, 12VDC/120AC controlled by an RV power distribution center that also charges the AGM storage battery and a portable solar kit fitted. Got a 12v compressor fridge/freezer 60L capacity for the back of the Liberty to stow road food.

Been stockpiling stuff for this for about a month.

The gray carpeted plywood came out of my Transit Connect camper. It' going to be stripped down, cut down to 40x72 and work starts from there.

As someone else here says - stay tuned for more insanity. :D

    ^^^ Nice!

If you need some inspiration and/or want to ask questions about best building practices for teardrops, check out http://www.tnttt.com, the Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers forum. The people on there are super helpful and that’s where I have my camper trailer build documented.
