Today I changed my oil from Valvoline Max Life High Mileage with a Fram High Mileage Filter to Mobile 1 Full Synthetic High Mileage with a Mobile 1 Extended Performance Filter. After I got finished I backed the Jeep off the ramps and left it running, as I pulled the ramps away I noticed the jeep was shaking terribly! So I jumped in the drivers seat and did a quick sweep at all the gauges which did me no good when I remembered alls we have are Fuel and Temp! Which is stupid if I might say so myself! Then the Check Engine light started flashing and then after about the 4th flash it stayed on so I shut the engine off, and checked to make sure I got the drain plug back in good and didn't just pour all my new oil on the ground and it was in, so popped the hood and checked the fill cap it was on good thought it might throw a code if it wasn't tight enough. Then checked the filter to make sure it was on tight too, it was. So as me and my Dad started it back up to listen and see if the shaking was from lack of oil or something else, and we concluded that it was missing on atleast one cylinder. So he called our mechanic and he said it was probably a coincidence and while up the ramps one of the injectors could have leaked a little and when I started the engine it probably fouled a plug or burnt up a coil pack or there could possibly have a problem with a plug wire, anybody heard of this happening or have any other ideas of what it could have been?

If the check engine light is on then pull the codes.. Most of the time that will tell you whats wrong.

How many miles are on it?

Yes, it was a coincidence that it happened after the oil change, unless you bumped something while working on it. I agree w/ Blake: check the code(s).

oh
yeah, pull the codes.

I doubt the additives of the mobil 1 knocked away sludge that fast and clogged the oil pickup. there is always a little risk in changing to full synthetic if the engine is older, breaks the sludge up too quickly.

He shouldn't have had that much sludge to begin with, the Max Life he switched from is a synthetic blend oil.

You could possibly have leaky o-rings in the plug tubes allowing oil to pool around the spark plugs which can lead to miss firing.Pull the coil packs and see if there is any oil down around the plugs.A very common problem on toyota's and honda's with 4 bangers, alos a common problem with top plugs, not a issue on side plugs(like older SBC's and SBF engines).

I just went to Advance Auto Parts and had them pull the codes, there were 5.

1. Random/Multiple Misfire
2. Cylinder 6 Misfire
3. Random/Multiple Misfire
4. Cylinder 6 Misfire
5. Ignition Coil Failure

Sounds almost identical to what happened to our '04.
All it needed in our case was a set of spark plugs and all was in order again.

Well most people have told me its probably the coil, it almost died on me 4 times before I got back home from getting on the gas too hard.

Swap the coil pack from cylinder 6 with another cylinder then pull the codes again. You don't need a scanner, just turn the ignition on and off without starting the engine, when you turn on the 3rd time the codes will display in the odometer.
If the codes are the same try checking the plugs.

I agree. Try that and see if the code moves to the other cylinder that you put the #6 coil pak in.

tjkj.......I didn't see what year KJ he had listed anywhere. The key trick works with my 05 so what year KJ's does it not work on?? I am curious.

Well I have an 05 it says in my signature pic but we changed the coil on cylinder 6 and it ran fine unless you got about 2500 rpms so we swapped the plugs and now its running fine!
