I think I've mentioned this topic before. I have an extended drivetrain warranty on my Libby and in order to not void the warranty I need to use only OEM acceptable tire sizes but my local dealership hasn't been willing to tell me what is. Does anybody know where I can get a list of OEM acceptable tire sizes? I guess the ones available within the Libby's ECM.

My Libby is an 04 Liberty Sport and I'd like to run either 245/75/15's or 245/75/16's.

OEM sizes in 16" were 225/75/16's or 235/70/16's. Not sure on the 17" size. None came with 15", you'd need a steel rim for 15".

Mine had 235/70/16 Goodyear SR-A's on it from the factory.

without a lift you would not be able to run a 245-75 X16 you can go up to a 245 70X16 stock but thats it

...and you may get a little rub at full lock like I do with a little lift.

245's were never offered as an OEM size in 16"

Personally, I'd stick with 235. At full lock, my BFG tread is unbelievably close to the fender and I have the 235s. 235/70/16 has worked out nicely for me being unlifted and a daily driver.

I have a Rusty's 2.5" spacer lift on my Libby and several 15" rims about my yard. If you've seen any of my postings I have been able to put 33" tires with 15" rims on my Libby after the lift, I just can't turn corners.

I'll visit my dealership and see if I can pry an answer out of them.

This "warranty" is it through the dealer or 3rd party?
I can tell you that for the most part as long as you put a tire that is sold on a
stock new Jeep then you should be fine because unless the say some thing about OE tire in the KJ then all they are saying is an OE model/brand if that
you can get away with some things if you play the game
They say OE tire size but dont say Liberty OE tire size so if you put a 245/75 MTR from a Rubicon then you are in the clear ,as far as they know you bought them from a Jeep dealer
or you can put any 235/75 tire you want or what ever size was a stock KJ size of any style and brand and be in the slear

Now if it is 3rd party you are still not to bad off
most of them NEVER check to see what size tire you are running
even in the event of a ****** being shot most times they dont even send out a rep but only question the shop about the work so if you find the right shop then if they dont ask about tires the shop will not tell about the tires ,they can charge a premium for the work and you will not ***** about it

we have 245/75 MTR's on our KJ and when we asked the dealer about their affect on the 7/70 warranty they said
"why would the tires affect the power train warranty?"
"now the lift will affect some of the suspension parts under the 3/36 but the power train is not part of the suspension"
they think that my wife is so cool with her lifted and MTR'd KJ ,we were getting free oil changes from the dealer so why not bring it

Mm, I don't think so, Atrus. OEM in the 16" were 235/70/r16 or 215/75/r16's. For the standard 16" sport, those are the two OEM tire sizes. The 235's are considered "OEM Optional".

235's are optional, I agree. Mine came with the offroad package.

I know they USED to be 215 standard. I know for a fact that 2007 was either 225 or 235. I thought 2003 or 2004 was the last time for 215?

Quickly checked tirerack...looks like 215's were standard through 2004, 2005+ was 225. We're both right :)

Surely you guys are not talking about the 215/75R16s?

They're only marginally bigger than the tires on my scooter...

:D

Oh man those things were tiny. Great for gas mileage though...

I had 245/70/16 BF Goodrich A/T KO all terrain and they were great on street, on trails they rubbed in the rear fenders and alittle in the front when backing up.
