forgive me if this is old news.

I am always checking the news for updates on the new Grand Cherokee diesel coming to the states, and came across this article! Very interesting to see, looks like it could be the equivalent of the Samurai in terms of size and whatnot. If it ever makes it to the states.

2015 mini Jeep will be 'trail-rated' |*CarAdvice

EDIT: Oh snap, just caught the note at the very bottom. Pictures are of a 2001 concept vehicle, but that doesn't change that a new micro Jeep is coming...

that thing looks like a bad redux of a hummer H2.

I really don't get why Jeep doesn't just stick with the true SUV segment?
Chrysler "split" off the performance arm as SRT, which i guess could be more considered like an in house tuner like Abarth and AMG are to Fiat and Mercedes. But really what's wrong with different brands focusing on different segments? why do they have to pollute each brand with inappropriate vehicles. JEEPS aren't FWD pieces of fud. JEEP means rugged capability. Unimproved or off-road capabilites. Chrysler is luxury. Dodge is family competence. RAM is trucks. just divy it up that way and go to town.

on here
Yeah, it does say "Willys" on the side of the roof rack.

It is an interesting concept and more of a jeep than a car so if they do make it I hope they stay true to the concept and it has some off-road capabilities.

Well I like the idea of smaller but that is all I like
We all know it will have independant suspension
which ,like it or not, does not do well off road and
is a pita to lift
The new wranglers are to big some times
even the 2 door version is to wide for older trails
I parked my TJ next to a JK with the same size tires
It was taller but had worse departure ,approach
and break over angles making it require more lift
and bigger tires to run the same trails this requires
gears and much more money
I would love to see Jeep produce something the size
of the old Samurai or side kick
With 30's or 31's and lockers they can go places that
a TJ on 33's has trouble and do it with 90hp 1.6L
engines
