I've been reading advice on this forum for months. It helped me replace the motor in my 02. I bought it with a rod knock (101k miles) and ended up installing a rebuild short block. A PITA, took a couple of months to get it done in my spare time, but it's Baaaack However, after about 100 miles, I had the ****** filter seal pop out - also found the problem/solution here. This was my fault - didn't press it in good. So far 400 more miles and running great.

Thanks. It was a ton of work - I've done old cars - 60-70s cars many times and a couple of LS1s, but this trasfer case/******, overhead cam thing stunk!!

I can't imagine how much work it must have been.
