Hey Folks!

So after a 7 hour ordeal I got my CV axle and intermediate shaft replaced! I noticed that the dif end of the CV would wiggle if I grabbed it...so that needed to be done.

I had a clicking/knocking noise when I went around turns...so I figured that would have been the issue. But after replacing the CV axle, intermediate shaft, and hub, the jeep STILL makes that noise going around turns. I could have SWORN it was coming from the CV axle.

I had the suspension completely torn down to do the axle and nothing looked bad. What else can I look for? It's coming from the passenger side-ish. Did I just get a bad CV axle? I got a Napa refurb.

Thanks for the help all!!

Did you check the bearing the shaft rides on while you were in there?

So on the passenger side the seal where you put in the intermediate shaft. Just behind that is a needle bearing that the shaft rides on.

Beat me to it :)

I assume this could make the shaft flop around in the tube?

Mine made a similar sound while turning until it screeched. Replaced that bearing and all has been well (fingers crossed).

Looks like I'll be tackling that when I decide to do the lift. Absolutely no way am I tearing my suspension apart again.

On the up side: things are all loosened up and anti seized!

Thanks for the help :)

The suspension is the easy part. 15 minutes for me now, with beer. THAT SEAL on the other hand made me say things that would make my mother very upset with me.

Make sure you have a slide hammer with reversible claw.

I'm sure you will be fine. I was just under prepared for the task (thinking a seal puller was enough... wrong.) So slide hammer with reversible claw and a dremel to cut a relief if necessary. The hammer and claw you can borrow from autozone for free. Just make sure you don't buy any parts while you are there haha
