Hey everyone. Zach from Ohio. I just recently got my first jeep. It is a 2004 or 2005 liberty rocky mountain edition. If anybody could give me any info on what's under this as far axles and gearing go and what other perks these models come with it would really be appreciated. Its on its way to being a trail buggy as my brother in law totaled it and its been sitting on the farm lane for the last 4 years

If trail rig are the flares still good?
Don't know what year it is???
Lots of differeneces between the 04 and 05 when they changed the front ends
front diff is a D30a rear of course 8.25
If automatic then it has 3.73 gears
Transfer case ?? what does the handle have on it? Select Trac has 2WD, Part time 4, full time 4, N, and 4 low, Command trac has 2WD, Part time 4, n 4 Low

Northeast Ohio I'm waiting on the title to know for sure. I know it needs a new ******. I'm pulling it in the garage in a couple days to start putting her back together and see what's there and what's missing.

Please do a walkaround pic shoot from all sides, under the hood, front/rear underneath, etc. so we have an idea of what you're up against....:favorites13:

Where in Northeast Ohio? There are a few of us from this area on here - you can get an idea of mods to the Liberty by coming to our Meet & Greets. Great group here.

The Rocky Mountain Edition is basically a cosmetic change that doesn't have anything different as far as drivetrain goes. All other Liberties would have the same engine/******/transfer case combos. As Tom said above give us an idea of the transfer case and we can guide you a bit as to capabilities.

If you have the coveted "riveted" fender flares they make a nice improvement in the looks; you may also have "Renegade" style wheels. Pics are a must!

Welcome to the forum :waytogo:

I'm from Salem Damascus area. At this time I've been wheeling with my Ram. I'll be posting pics once I get her down to the house. What's the differences with the transfer cases on these? Just to add to my general knowledge. This is the first Jeep I've owned so I'm not very familiar with them.

Cool! I go to Davey's Jeeps frequently to check out Jeep parts for my Libby as well as a buddy's Wrangler that he just rebuilt from salvage.

As for the transfer case refer to Tom's earlier reply highlighted below in blue.

OK I got it now. I wasn't sure if you were pointing to different transfer cases on these being better for different uses... Mudding, crawling, smoother trails, etc. So I'm guessing most of the libertys are set up like the smarttrac blazers?
