Not that this is a big update...but I did want to at least acknowledge that I am still working on getting the bumper fabricated. I did remove the front bumper cover, cut off and re-mounted the turn signals in their original location, trimmed the fender liners, and have mounted one of the bumper supports inside the frame by welding nuts to a strip of steel and inserting into the 2"x2" tubing. I bolted it on using the factory holes in the frame. It isn't pretty, but it worked. The other side, I'm going to change it up, as I'm not confident in the tack welds on the nuts. {The idea is creating a "blind fastener" since I don't have access to the inside of the tubing once it is inserted into the frame). I've bought some 1/2" steel plate which I'm going to tap the M12 sized holds, and going to insert that into the tubing. As expected, the bumper requires some serious adjustment in height to get it to line up with the KJ's lines, but I still think I can get things to line up. Here are some shots on "progress".
I've already trimmed some of the length of the driver side mount just so I could drive it mid-project. The passenger side hasn't been bolted in yet, I just stuck it in there for the picture.
