Stock KJ Battery is only 630 CCA (Amps)

Even though my stock KJ battery is a measly 630 amps, It must be good quality as load test states 712CCA. Will be 4 years old next May.

IT is doing fine but when it fails a load test, Will Look for something in group 78/84 in 800 CCA+ to replace it with.
With temps now close to freezing, I Keep the KJ's stock battery plugged in overnight with an intelligent C-Tek charger.

And 3 times a year pull the caps check electrolyte level and use hydrometer.

After charging the reading is great.
Check each cell to see how they are doing!

For the V8 sedan with huge starter motor, in Feb I replaced the battery with a Dual Terminal group 78-84.
Some Batteries are over rated and not realistic. This is one that is rated 1050CA and (850CCA)
Even new fully charged this one did manage a load test reading 850CCA
It recently passed a load test at 810 CCA. (maybe it need more charging?) Has a bit more reserve as well.
Regardless of the numbers this battery will have more juice than a stock Chrysler Battery.
This battery also fits into KJ.

I'm still running the battery from the factory and I've had my jeep for 5 years as off last Friday.

The stock Optima effed off in 2 years. The yellow top Optima I replaced it with effed off in 2 years. Optimas are a ticking timebomb of suk waiting to explode into a cloud of asstasm without warning.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
My Odyssey PC1500 normally puts out over 1300cca's(880cca's rated),after playing movies with my stereo blasting for 4-5 hours with the engine off it still put out over 900cca's for a 3 year old battery.

My factory battery finally died back in 09 so it was six years old. Now I have a duralast gold with 800 CCA.

My OEM battery lasted 5 years and then started cranking the engine slow and holding just under 12v when I replaced it.

who cares how long they should last
I figure that they sure dont cost $100 to make so I try to get my $$$ worth
I buy Interstate bateries ,most small shops through out the country sell them
which makes warranty claims easy
Then when they are between 20 and 24 months ,their free replacement period
I leave the lights on
then bring the car to a shop tell them how I had to jump it to get it started
they will put in a new battery which will have a 24 month warranty from that day
I did this twice in the KJ and ,3 batteries, and once in the TJ
I will be getting another new battery for the TJ soon

and then you complain about the economy and factories going abroad :pp:

I have had batteries go dead at the worst possible times. Most of the time they were over 6 years old. Now I just replace them every 4 or 5 years and I dont worry about it.

I replaced the stock battery in my '06 a couple weeks ago. It was put in service in '05, so it lasted about 6 years.

Where I live, you're lucky to get 12-18 months from a car battery, especially for anything with a large engine. In summer the temps routinely get up to 50C/122F for 3-4 months.
