There is not any replacement LED bulbs that are suitable for the KJsHi all
Wondering if anyone has successfully replaced the 9007 bulbs with LED's.
I tried a basic set but got no high beams.
Any help appreciated
Thanks for your reply. I was wondering about hi beam switching with led's
Trying to understand.
Would you be able to explain your position in design or engineering terms.
My thoughts
A light source of any kind placed in a reflector should be handled the same by that reflector as long as the source emits the light in the same plane.
Thanks for the info. Will read thr article later. To put it simply, just look at various cars/trucks etc, each reflector is designed for the particular light that is going to be run in it, be it LED, Halogen, etc
Some are designed as reflector, some projector, we have a reflector type in the KJs and hence that is why they work best with a halogen bulb since an LED etc must use a projector housing
While the diodes are in the approximate place in both types of bulb, they are not identical to the halogen bulb filament. The reflector is based on precise filament size and position, and having an omni-directional light source. The small changes to size and position will have significant consequences on beam pattern, this is why HIDs do not work in a halogen reflector. But more importantly, LEDs produce directional light fired at the sides of the reflector and will not illuminate the reflector surface uniformly like a halogen bulb resulting in performance loss and a lot of scattered light which is why they blind oncoming traffic. The upper rear portion of the reflector responsible for distance projection is very poorly illuminated by the LED design, which also results in loss of distance illumination.
Many " think " LEDs are brighter, BUT, loss of beam control introducing massive glare makes the LEDs look brighter and causes people to see this as an 'upgrade' when in fact it is a downgrade really in terms of lighting.

good reading, well anything from Daniel Stern is good
I have installed a set of sea light L.E.D. they have actually been working great. They flicker when the drl's are on but otherwise they have great visibility in rain, snow, and fog. the high beam throws further than the halogen does and the low beam doesn't seem to be high enough to shine into the eyes of on coming traffic (i don't have other drivers flashing their high beams at me) i was sceptical of putting an led in a non projector housing but I'm very happy with the outcome. I'd say try for yourself and make your own decision.Hi all

I'm very sorry that you don't like my opinion and experience with changing to L.E.D. bulbs. You have already stated your thoughts on the subject previously and I'm sure many of the readers greatly appreciated it. there are L.E.D. conversions for almost every vehicle as long as they are D.O.T. approved replacement there is nothing wrong with trying it for yourself. And ive driven towards vehicles with an L.E.D. Conversion they're becoming quite common place now and i haven't had many issues with being blinded, but there are some. I read your article i wasn't convinced personally he makes a good argument but not enough to change my mind with my own experiences. And that's my opinion with my experience have you tried them yourself? Just curious. Anyway have a great day and stay safeSo very sorry , just because people are not high beaming you does not mean you are not blinding them every time you pass them. Please read the article that I posted above, NO LED does good in the KJ headlight housing., PERIOD.
There is just no way any LED bulb can be made to work in a halogen headlight reflector
Good HID and LED headlamps are terrific; they can offer excellent safety performance and driver comfort, but only if they're designed and built from the start as HID or LED headlamps. Installing an "HID kit" or "LED bulbs" in a halogen headlamp isn't an upgrade, it's a large and serious safety downgrade.
