Can I put a 2009 KK Transmision in a 2004 KJ without issues

No, unfortunately. The KK has a VLP (variable line pressure) feature in the transmission that the earlier 42RLE’s didn’t have. Thus, it has extra electrical connectors on it and probably isn’t backwards compatible.
Look for a non-VLP 42RLE from before 2006 if I remember correctly. Hope this helps.
