KJs on my TJ or skip it?

Our 2007 KJ has stock P225/75R16 (Sport model 5spoke steelies) which we are about to replace rim and tire. However, the stock rims and tires are in really good condition. Our TJ though, has unmatched tires (don't ask), rusty rims, it's a mess. The bolt patterns are all 5x4.5 and the TJ's P215/75R15 are nearly identical in diameter, well within spec. Is there any reason you guys can think of why we should not do this swap? The one thing that crossed my mind was the load bearing ability of the KJ wheels being too low for a TJ but they are steel... Nuff said, right?

And you haven't done it already?
Everything will be fine...but the KJ's wheels will sit further inside the wheelwells than the stock TJ wheels.

Not sure what axle you have on the TJ
and not sure about the Dana 35 for that matter
but I know for sure that the KJ wheels do not fit on a dana44
the "hub" is to big
also like TBJ said they will sit way inside the wheel well and look bad

JT, the hub thing is a surprise.
This is one of our local dudes...LJ, has a D44 rear and KJ wheels.
He may or may not be running wheel spacers though. Not 100% sure.

Moose, a regular poster on LOST, most definitely has KJ rims with 235/85's on his LJ, and it most definitely has a D44 rear. They fit fine. Maybe it is an issue for different styles of KJ rims.

what I know
'02 TJ Dana 44 with rear drum brake
'03 KJ LTD
The KJ wheels did NOT fit on the rear of the TJ

How ever this should not matter
as the shafts from an '03+ TJ with rear disk ,LJ, will fit in an '02 no problem
Those are steel wheels and MAY have a bigger/different hub?
I thought that all of the Jeep wheels were hubcentric ,could be wrong
IIRC the issue was from the depth of the hub ,the wheel was not deep enough
so it looked like it was on but not quite touching on the drum ,BAD
those in the pic allow the drum do slide all the way through ,Just like the TJ steelies
did

Think FF dana 60 ,HUGE hub so the wheel needs to have a huge hole for it to pass through
this is also why you can use them with spacers

bummer. Looks like after I get my new rims and tires I will just have to try the swap and see for myself. According to a few tire calculation apps online, it matches pretty well. Doesn't mention anything about the offset being different. grrr

Yeah, each wheel on the KJ has 1 more inch of backspacing than the stock TJ wheels, so each wheel will sit 1" further in from the fenders.
