Yeah..........but even over here you get laught at when you confess you drive a 'Panda'...

They used to look like this.....:p

You must be registered for see images

One of the cheapest Fiat has ever made.

But I am with Marlon, that 'JEEP' picture is totaly photoshop. Fiat is not nuts, and furthermore they do not 'own' Chrysler. From what I understand they bought a 35% interest?

As you can read in the article over in the other thread Chrysler can now have acces to Fiat's mega R&D team and....for example: Alfa Romeo (also owned by Fiat) now has a model ( MITO) that comes with a 1.4 ltr petrol engine....170bhp! No throttle valve...

JEEP could use some high tech!

That looks like a ford aspire with a escort front end.

Both of these vehicles make me want to heave.

Looks like I'll never buy a new Jeep again.... :(

They said the same thing about the Liberty.

But the liberty still kept a solid chrylser 8.25 rearend (same as cherokees) dana front differental, towing ability and atleast has 3.7L powerplant. I personally love having power and not some little 1.4L motor...
also the liberty has some style unlike the awkward looking hatchback...

Can you believe these are considered as 4x4's in Europe? And that they call every 4x4 'JEEPS'?

Yes. Nobody knows anything about SUV. Anything that is larger than a sedan and can do 4x4 is a Jeep. Some of them are real crazy and will keep asking you for make of your car even after you answer them Jeep. Ok, but what is the brand? Jeep damn it.. Jeep.. *sigh*

Sure are a lot of people that don't take their Jeeps off road ******** about lack of off road prowess in here.

ThunderbirdJunkie DIGS the Fiat Panda 4x4, and thinks it would be a great vehicle in the US.

He also likes the Fiat 500 Abarth, and the upcoming turbo Fiesta...

It's about time we got some interesting small cars in the US again. Remember the Suzuki Swift GTi? Nobody else does, either, because it's not BIG BAD OIL COMPANIES killing small car sales here...it's the consumer.

The consumer in the US DOES NOT WANT a small, fun, fuel efficient car. If they did, Honda would have brought the Fit over a LONG time ago...the Honda City Turbo would have been brought here ages ago...the Ford Fiesta would have had a good foothold in the first place and never left, the Pinto would have never been replaced by the Escort.

ThunderbirdJunkie welcomes our new European overlords!

I agree, Look Fiat up they have a wide range of vehicles and engines to draw from.

PLUS visit some countries in Africa. For Example, Their roads are twenty times worse then anything most everyone goes on here and they make it through in Camrys and such, mud roads, no stone on them and you see a small front wheel drive car crawling along. Actually mine would seem way over kill for what most people drive everyday!
But here we need 4 Wheel Drive when there is an inch of snow on the roads, don't even think about unpaved roads.

Yes they do have a lot of diesel powered, manual transmissioned ARB bumpered SUVs but thats not the norm for most people

My biggest issue with most of the smaller European "SUV's," or sedans even, is that they are too small. To small to haul anything around in, to small to get a family in, to small for me to fit comfortably in and have someone sit behind me. I'm not knocking the drive train, suspension, or even the styling (which I don't like most of the time) just that they are too small for what I want out of a vehicle.

We're not even talking about SUVs. We're talking about a tiny station wagon that will probably sell here starting at about 12,000 dollars.

WTF...........be the same as putting the Jeep logo on my Yaris. Jeep is really having an identy crisis. Sell this thing as the new Neon not a Jeep. I wonder what the MPG is?
Just putting a diesel in a Wrangler would make me happy.

That doesn't change my opinion that the majority of European vehicles I find too small.

Then it is not the vehicle for you. Nobody's telling you what to buy. The CJ2A is too small, right? XJ must be too small as well.
Forward Control? Too small. CJ5? Too small. So, don't buy one.

Selling the JK CRD here would not bring Jeep's CAFE numbers high enough, as a division. This is why they need a tiny vehicle. And if it were another Compass, everybody would be crying and ******* and moaning, so what's the difference?

Im afraid TBJ is right on this one, they only want EACH division to have a surplus ... For that, they need to get the mass out and willing to buy a ''JEEP'' brand vehicule. As MUCH AS I HATE to see JEEP name and its meaning of tough and durable simply being threwn out the window, i have to admit TBJ has a point there ... Thats is why i will send an e-mail to Chrysler and let them know that if they have to do this, in order to keep ME as a customer they will need to prove the new JEEP, well at least the Wranglers and Libertys are still made the way its meant to be ... By the way, what this design inspires me is somekind of walmart brand mashed potato box. I have nothing wrong with small cars and sometimes i wish i would have bought one for the mpg ... But please, for 1/2 the designer's job paycheck i could do better .... or at least make it more like a jeep lol
