2 weeks ago my key remote became unreliable. I have two remotes which behave identically so the problem appears to be in the Jeep. Basically the key remote either works or doesn't. Sometimes waiting minutes or hours and suddenly it starts working. When it starts working it will work repeatedly - until perhaps the next time I park the Jeep and lock it up. I usually lock it via the door switch.

I replaced the CR 2032 battery in one remote but it remains intermittent. It is the intermittent nature of the problem that REALLY puzzles me.

I can find no reason for the failure - and it has sometimes worked fine for several consecutive trips...only to fail on the next several trips. I CAN open the door with the key lock but that invariably sets off the horn alarm which can be a nuisance...especially late at night.

Any thoughts on this? Is this a failure mode that anyone else has seen? My Jeep (CRD) has been quite reliable since purchased new in '05.

Have you tested the battery in the Jeep lately/load test/voltage reading after sitting?
