Hello all, need some help with a seemingly simple problem. Our son has an 02 limited that did not come with a key fob when he bought it. I have tried unsuccessfully 4 or more times with 2 different auto key programing companies to get him fobs. 1 x It went fine and then the fobs slowly lost range then wouldn't work at all despite new batteries in fob and jeep. Next try they wouldn't program at all. Everything else electrical works fine so I don't think it's ECM,BCM etc. there is a module that goes around the ignition called a sentry key something or other I thought could be it but I don't want to throw parts a it. What are your thoughts? Thanks

Unfortunately, you will need to go thru a dealer who has a DRB III scanner. They will have to look up a key PIN for you to input while using the DRB III. It is an older scanner but the only one I have found to work properly. I have ordered blank key fobs from Amazon or eBay, taken them to a key shop to get cut, and then use the DRB scanner to program them. You may want to call your local dealer to see if they have one.

South Central PA. So your thinking it's not the wireless control module or sometimes it's called sentry key immobilizer? I have been doing a fair amount of reading about this and it seems this module that goes around the ignition has an antenna and controls key fob signal.
