First a little background info. I bought my kj from a family friend who lives in Texas, and he was the second owner. The dealer sticker was from Virginia somewhere. I saw on all data thre was quite a few tsb's regarding recalls, So if i call or bring my jeep in to my local jeep dealer will they be able to see what recall work has already been done? Is there some sort of cut off date for this work? And can i get all of this work done at the same time and is it free? Ive never had to do anything regarding recalls so i have no idea how this works. I know you guys can give me the answers i need and thanks a million

A TSB is a Technical Service Bullitin that is issued to assist the technician to fix a common problem. Not free.

A Recall is free and applies to vehicles made between certain dates or could apply to all vehicles depending on the problem. Usually recalls are safety related and there is no cut off date of when it has to be done. Any jeep dealer will be able to do a recall fix.

For a recall any jeep dealer can put in your vin# and check to see if any particular recall applies to your vehicle and if it is done or not. If one applies to your vehicle and not done, they will do it at no cost to you. You can go on to the Jeep.com website and go under "owners services" and put in your vin# and it will tell you if there any open recalls not done or if there are no open recalls. You can also request a "build sheet" which will be e-mailed to you and show everything that was in your jeep when it left the factory. You can also ask the jeep dealer to print you one. Build sheets are free.

Hope I am explaining this right. If not, someone can correct me or add to it.

Thanks dave. Im going to run my vin and see whats what. Are the dealers pretty good about doing the fixes? Ive heard of a few people on a vw forum who had to twist the dealers arm to get them to do anything

Most are pretty good from what I have heard and know from working in dealerships before
They get paid to do the recalls so they should do them
I've never had my KJ in so don't know for sure though

Hmmm only problem I might see is that you might not get the rear upper control arm recall that salt belt states got (such as Jersey). Because the Jeep originated from VA, the was in TX. Not sure how they'll handle that one. Wouldn't hurt to ask about it.

PS - I just went wheeling in the Pine Barrens. You should come around next time!! :D

Nice i love it out there. Just be careful any where south of ocean county. A lot of those trails are considered marked roads but at the same time a lot are protected lands. Ive been ticketed by game and wildlife wardens enough times that i cant get a fresh water fishing license for another 2 years. And the worst part is theres no way to know which trails are good to ride on. Happy trails my friend

The recall will be on your vehicle if it was bought or registered in a salt belt state. I'm not sure if Virginia was on the list or not. I know when I lived there, they salted the roads though. My jeep was bought and registered in Pennsylvania by a previous owner. I bought it here in Georgia and got the recall done here in Georgia. You wont have a problem getting the recall work done in Texas unless it was already done or Virginia wasn't on the list.

I have adobe reader and there was no link to open any documents so im kinda feeling like this tool isn't working properly. Should I go in to double check or am I all clear as far as recalls go?
