I have an '03 3.7 and the vin is 1J4GL48K33W638449. I'm looking for the exhaust Y pipe. I don't know exactly what I'm looking for, but the mechanic said I have an exhaust leak between the pipe and the muffler and I need a new pipe. I found this one but he said he doesn't think it's right. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you guys.

Here is a link. You will want to view diagram #2. The Y pipe should be very evident to you.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Instead of paying over $2,000 for the pipe, I'm going to see if I can cut the third cat off and weld on a short straight pipe. I don't see why it would need or not function correctly with 2 cats. Thank you for your help. You are Extremely Appreciated.

You might consider a “cat-back” exhaust system which would just be a bolt on item. If you are getting holes rusted into the pipe you very likely have many more to come. Plus, if the pipe is shot having it welded to may not be an option as you need good steel/aluminum to weld to. Paying to have the system rebuilt one pipe/section at a time could cost a lot more that a pre fab kit and you will have your rig in the shop way more often.

The mechanic said the exhaust leak was in the Y-pipe. he wasn't too specific. I'll know more Wednesday when I bring it in for other work. I can't see putting a $1200 system in a 22 year old vehicle. We just need to know where the leak is coming from and I'm hoping we can just cut off the bottom cat and run a staight pipe to the muffler.

I get it. Our 07 is paid for and we don’t intend on getting anything new. Too much $$$$$ so I don’t mind dropping one to three new car payments worth of new parts into it every year or so. Sounds like a patch it what you need!!

In another thread I had the shift solenoid block replaced, came to a little over $500. And nothing changed, it's still doing the same exact thing, waste of money. Wednesday I'm getting the front drive shaft and front sway bar links replaced. Then in early July I'm getting new front brakes and rotors and rear shocks put on. I have a list. But like you said, I'd rather dump money into this Jeep then start over with something new.
