I have owned my Jeep Liberty for about five months and I must say I have fallen in Love with my KJ. It was love at first sight ha ha some of you might thing I'm corny

Before I bought my Liberty I went through a tough breakup with my backstabbing cheating fiance.

Over the last 5 months I've realized who needs a girl when youve got beer and a Jeep:D:D?

No problems with my girl but i kinda agree, thing is, my jeep does actually eats up more money then my girlfriend so i guess ill have to keep the girl i've got :) I'm the one spending the money while she wont spend a dime. Well, anyway, i just love my jeep enough to spend what i can on it :), i've never modded one of my vehicule althought i always wanted and now i know this is the one that will get modded.

I know what your saying. I love my 03 sport too. Sometimes when Im going back in my house I turn around and look at it for a couple of seconds to admire it. All Ive done to it was instal a hitch and put General atx on it. I love the way it looks. I cant wait to lift it. The tires are almost a year old, hopefully when they are bald I will be able to afford the lift kit.

My wife was the one who wanted it. At the time I didn't know it was the Cherokee's successor (I called it a girl Jeep). Wasn't until I drove it a few times, and especially after playing in the snow in 4wd that I really got an appreciation for it. It isn't fast or able to big heavy stuff like my truck, but it can go places my truck can't.

Though not my first 4x4, it's my first Jeep and my first lifted vehicle. Other lifted Jeeps(WJ, JK, TJ, etc) are everywhere but lifted KJs are not the norm. I love that. lol3.gif

My libby is growing on me. :)

Especially now that it's lifted and has bigger tires. ;)

I got into mine by accident...meaning, my pickup truck (Mazda B2500 - basically a Ford Ranger... ) was totalled in an accident, and I needed a new vehicle quick.

This one year old used 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade came along at a very fair price, due to my father having a good friend who owned a Chrysler/Jeep dealership. It was part of a rental fleet in Hawaii for the first year of it's life. Had 20K miles on her when I took ownership.

I actually wanted a vintage Cherokee...I'd always had my eye on one of those. (Still do...kinda.) But there were none to be found that were appealing to me, and I needed something quick.

The only other vehicle that really appealed to me at that time was the Nissan XTerra. I saw the Jeep Liberty as a very similar vehicle to that one - size-wise, and engine-size-wise, etc. I didn't want a huge SUV, due to the lack of parking spaces to accomodate them, and my smaller than average garage. Besides, I've always liked Jeeps, so I took the chance on the Libby.

It's been a good vehicle. We've towed a Pop-up tent trailer around the state with it, done some fun off-road adventures, lots of camping, road-trips...

My only complaint with it is the interior is too cramped for my family and all our stuff. The classic Cherokee's were a lot more "square," and seemed to have more interior room - especially in the cargo area.

Also that center-rear mounted spare has caused me lots of grief with towing, cargo racks, bike racks. That was a purely aesthetic choice, I'm sure, to keep the rugged image of the classic jeeps - but it's a poor design for functionality, IMHO...

In general though...I do like (and almost love) my libby! :D

I guess it all depends on how old you are to call it a "vintage Cherokee".

Although, While driving my "daytime Jeep" I do a longing double take at any XJ I see in a used car lot. Just have to SFA the KJ.

Two of my favorite things.....

I love my KJ too, not my first Jeep, but certainly the most practical thus far. Had a couple of CJs and a woodied Grand Wagoneer when I was in high school. One was soooo clapped out that my feet got wet when I went through a puddle. I bought my KJ new in Sept of '05. Took this picture today. Finally got a new grill from DC. Paint flaked off of the other one. I convinced them to replace it by removing my old one, dropping it on the service managers desk and not leaving until they agreed with me. My tool box is the other favorite thing. Been in love with the KJ (and the box) from day one.

re the vintage Cherokees. First 4wd was a 1974 2 door Cherokee. Still have it parked on the back of the lot along with a pair of 77 widtracks (an S and a Chief). Just not a lot of sheet metal left, but the 74 and one 77 run. 360 AMC, one with a 2bbl (74) and the 77 with a 4 bbl. Then there is the 84 XJ that was replaced by the KJ. Such is life. Drove the 74 up here from Biloxi MS in 83.

Well...though pic #2 is Badass, that's a little too "vintage" for me!

I was thinking more in these model years:
