You could do whatever you wanted. I would probably install after market horns and add a switch to turn them on and off if I didnt want them to come on with the stock horns. In other words, Id keep both.

And I think the stock horn sounds better and is louder than most other horns out there. Youve never heard a toyota horn have you? You cant even hear from inside the car when driving down the road let alone get someone out of the way with it.

Stock Horn

When I think of horns in a truck or Jeep, they definitely should not sound like what my 04 came with.
They make me believe that I am driving a Honda. Quite Embarrassing actually.
Maybe some caddy horns in a lower tone is what is needed. :)

Maybe they put a pansy horn on your Jeep?? That or you have one of the dual tones not working. Mine sounds great.

Thanks for the hornblasters video, lots of air horn/train horns, that are scary !
Can't imagine having one of those....too loud, and here you would get a noise bylaw ticket immediately.
I think the PIAA sport horns mounted under the deck on the push bar would be a huge improvement. Just getting them out from under the hood would be great.

I have a twin bugle air horn in my YJ that I've plumbed into the onboard air system. I get noticed but not as much as the poor victims of Hornblasters.com.
That's just so wrong.

I too think my Libby's stock horn ***** and would like to put an air horn under the hood but I can't find a spot to mount it (yet).

I find my horn is quite beefy as well .. and dual tone. Maybe it's the 04's (dunno)

Mines an 04 and its fine. All four of our Jeeps have the same sounding dual tone horn and Ive always liked them. Although the WK seems to be a bit louder than mine.

If you really need a louder horn, its because people around you seems to be mostly bad drivers, humm, guess its easier to stand up in the pack :p ....

My horn is pretty weak too. It is OK on regular roads, but on highway doing 60 when you blow that horn it sounds weak. Blake, you mentioned toyota horns, but the newer ones are really loud. Anyway, I've always wanted to upgrade my horn too, but I never liked the air horns. Being always behind someone at a light, I like to just nudge them with a very short horn, and it is almost impossible with air horns. They always have then tiny little bit of delay, and when you just tap the horn it sound some weird half-ass wheezing like noise.

Both horns appear to be operating. They are just ineffective. They are not loud enough to penetrate though people who are on their cell phones, stereos on, who just ignore you, trying to get them to move up or get going.
I need something a bit more powerful, in lower tone. Just getting them out form under the hood, and on the pushbar will increase effectiveness quite a bit. I will try a set of PIAA Sports Horns in 400/500hz and if that is not better, an air horn for sure is in order.

lol ... oh they hear you ... that's the common reaction when you are guilty ...

"huh wha? did you hear something? ... no? ... me neither... I must be a perfect driver still"

What you need is one of those expandable arms with a big (censored) boxing glove on the end of it :D

Yeah, thats why I would put a switch in to control the aftermarket horn. Then when its on both horns would honk. The aftermarket horn should be loud enough to drown out the stock horn and if its not then you need a better aftermarket horn.

Let me know what you decide on and make sure to post vids TC! Always wanted a ridiculous loud horn but never knew what actually sounded good. Not going to spend $300 on an air horn either.
