Hi, all. Picked up an 05 KJ Renegade for our 16 y.o. niece. The paint isn’t in great shape, but it’s really good mechanically and only has 78k miles on it. We found a bunch of receipts showing some of the work that was done to it, which was a nice surprise.

We aren’t new to Jeeps and have 2 others: my wife’s 08 WK1 SRT8 & my 19 WK2 Trailhawk.

We’re fixing some basic things so she has a reliable Jeep that will last her until it gets wrecked :D

Welcome to the forums !
Low mile KJ renegade for your young niece, way cool !!
Actually it looks really clean & in great shape. Could be polished up quite nicely!
With an SRT8 & Trailhawk, you are definitely a Jeep family & all set!
So what items are on the fixer up list?

Thanks! We promised my father-in-law we’d make sure she had a car when she turned 16 before he died, so we got her something that’ll last if she takes care of it. I’d have loved a 4wd SUV when I was younger.

The top surfaces are sunburnt. I’m pretty sure the previous owners never washed it and kept it outside all the time. That’s ok though, it’ll build character. LOL.

The list is mostly maintenance stuff and I made a thread about the work I’m doing HERE.

Front & rear brakes, all springs & shocks, headlights, front blinkers, struts for hood & rear glass, new tires (12 year old bald tires on it now ), paint the grill, replace front bumper fogs, front upper control arms, etc.

Found a deal on a Kenwood single DIN w/ BT and 2 pair of JBL speakers, so those will go in it, too.

Looks like you have quite a list going there
On suspension use the best springs and shocks you can
For shocks I only use Bilstein or OME, rest are worthless over the long run
Springs, they came with junk springs from the get go. Fronts only rated at 310 lb and should of been 345-350 lb to hold the weight
Most aftermarket stock replacements are not worth installing since new they bottom out , ride bad IMO
