pulled two codes for my wifes 02.

got code "P0031 HO2S Heater Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1"

and code "P0051 HO2S Heater Circuit Low Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 1"

stupid question i guess, but how do i fix this? and what does this really mean?

what do i ask for at the parts store and where on the jeep do i begin to replace items?

thanks..

You have bad O2 heater circuits in the 2 upstream O2 sensors.Get new ones and replace them, they are the O2 sensors closest to the exhaust manifolds and before any cats.

ok i think i know what you are talking about. these would be on each side right? bank 1 meaning one side, bank 2 meaning the other side? and i pull and replace the entire sensor correct? its all one piece?

and just so i wont confuse the parts store person, i ask for " O2 heater circuits" and not just "O2 sensors"?

Yes you need to replace the whole O2 sensor, just ask for OEM direct replacement O2 upstream O2 sensors,do not get the universal O2 sensors, they down stream O2's are different.Takes a special O2 sensor socket or a 7/8" wrench to remove them, run the engine for a few mins to let the heat help making it easier to loosen them.

In the pic below is the 2 main cats in a '02,the O2 sensors you need are above the cats that are circled below, there fun to get to.

PB Blaster works 100 times better the WD40,don't drive it after spraying that stuff on the exhaust otherwise you just wasted the stuff and make sure you clean the exhaust very good after replacement, the smell will get very bad.
