Has anyone thought of pulling the rug and putting in a water proof floor like say a rubber material or something? I've always liked that kind of floor in trucks - its easier to clean.

Yep. I'm still considering LineXing the floors if not for all the wiring that runs under the carpet. I haven't figured out yet how to make that look 'neat'...

Line-x eh? There must be some material that you can cut instead. Just take out the carpet and use that as a template.

Someone on LOST pulled their carpeting and Line-X'd it.

The only problem with removing the carpeting is you expose some wiring harnesses.

almost impossible to move all of the wiring out of the way it runs right under your feet etc not impossible but the end results would not really be worth it, plus you need some kind of heat shields down first withoutthe carpets / insualtion the floors get REAL HOT, well almost too hot to put your feet down

Remove the wiring, extend the wiring if needed and re-assemble wiring harness and run it through some polished aluminum or less expensive stainless tubing*. Detail with brass fittings, seal with Teflon plumbers tape, Install with rubber padded wire wraps after Line-X is dry.
While your at it, run all lines (Fuel, break, cable, etc.) on the inside of the unitized Chassis.
Less wear and tear, evin with kids.

*Not to mention other cool stuff you can use to cover wiring/harness'
