I just bought these last week:

http://www.vvme.com/product/detail-20022.html

I went back and forth about it for a few months but decided to try them out. I really like the look and performance of HID lights. I opted for the 4300k temp bulbs, the brightest and whitest variety out there. I hate that obnoxious blue color, so this is kinda like having the benefits of HID without the bling factor.

I'll do a write-up of the install and post before and after pics when I'm done. I'm expecting them to arrive today or tomorrow, so look for my report by the end of the week. The kit I bought is supposedly one of the better ones out there...we'll see.

I'm curious about these HID conversions. Do they put out acceptable light patterns with the stock lens, or do they shine all over the place?

I imagine the light output being very scattered(and not near it's potential) with the stock headlight housings, would be nice to see some projector retrofits!

Yeah, but the cheapest stock housings I can find are on fleabay for $100+, so what would the aftermarket try to ream you for.confused.gif

I'll let you know. I've heard the stock housings can cause some scatter, but it seems to vary in severity from vehicle to vehicle. Since I haven't seen any 02-07 KJ's with this conversion anywhere on the web, I decided to see how bad it is for myself.

I'll be watching this thread. I hope you have a good experience with them, because I would like to get the same kit if all is well. It seems like too good of a price though. Thanks for being a guinea pig.:)

Glad to help...probably do this Wednesday sometime. I'll try to post the writeup Wednesday night. No later than Friday though.

Just so you know, I had some trouble with the HID kit that I was sent. Not a bi-xenon kit as advertised and one side doesn't work properly! Was advertised as "new in box" but showed up smelling of two-cycle engine exhaust and with a bent connector on one of the harnesses. I'm sending it back for a partial refund (the best he would offer me). Not sure if the problem lies in the kit itself or the fact that I bought it from a no-name eBay seller.

I'm looking for something of better quality, from a more reputable seller. As soon as I decide what I'm going to do, I'll post a write-up.

That's a damn shame. I hate when you get excited because what you ordered just arrived, just for you to be thoroughly disappointed when you open it and see what you've got.

I'm considering a set up from that tangier light outfit. $109.00 (shipped to my door tax and duty, exchange paid $173.00) doesn't seem to bad yet I am a little apprehensive due to the low price! Around here you can expect to pay at least $500.00- $600.00 for a hid set up. But then again most after market auto parts are expensive here. Like what I paid for an Optima battery at Wal Mart. A mile up the road is a speed shop and they want $80.00 more for the same battery! No wonder 3 of their 5 stores went out of business!
