Wife wants me to sell the KJ because she dislikes the seats, other than that she likes the car.
Thing is she is kinda right.. On the sport model at least, seats are hard, uncomfortable, lack back support and have no mechanism for setting the driver's seat height. Yep, they suck. Even a stupid Prius has better seats than the sport KJ.

I was looking around for junk yards with salvage limited KJs to swap for the leathers for some reasonable $$$s but couldn't find any in my area. There's a set in eBay but seller wants 400$+300$ freight shipping and they are not in good condition anyway.

Anybody has ideas about other KJ seat replacement options/techniques? Can I swap with a KK? other cars? Maybe some after market options?

Anything that won't make me spend too much $$$ on it would solve this problem and let me keep my KJ.

Thanks!

Keep looking for some earlier model ( 2002-2004 ) limited seats
later models ( 05-07 ) are not that comfortable IMO

Have your seats redone at a local upholstery shop. Have better foam and pick which covering you want. Coast you a couple hundred a seat depending on materias

Seats from a KK do fit apparently (some have done it), but I'd go with rjkj's suggestion - that way you get the seats exactly how you want them. The problem with second-hand seats is that you can't know what got onto them.........

I find the seats are fine and my wife has no trouble with them - even when we are touring Europe. I have a 3 hour limit driving in any car - after that I have to get out and walk for a bit - wouldn't matter if it was a Bentley, its just being in a driving position for that long that does it.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. Seems like there's some complaints on the limited seats as well.
Do you think the nice 180$ neoprene seat covers improve comfort in any way?

I put in a set of '02 leather, heated, powered seats in my '03 and made a world of difference.

My Renegade had the cloth & leather sport-type seats and neither my wife or I could sit in them for more than a couple of hours before it was time to stop. The leather seats I found weren't in the best condition but they weren't torn - just needed a good cleaning.

At some point I'll probably have them re-covered but at least around here that'll run me about $800 - but for now I'd rather put those funds into a new rear bumper or something :happy160:

....

Hardly a fair assessment. The Liberty is 13 years old. I don't expect the seats in many cars that age to be decent any longer, if they ever were. I do realize that the first Prius was made in 1997... but they always had a higher level of build quality anyhow.

I have an 03 Limited, leather heated, power seats. Other than some bottom seat side bolstering that is squished/worn from lots of 200lb adults sitting in it for most of its life, they are comfortable, height adjustable, and only slippery if I use a silicone based product on them. Even then.... not so much.

If you can find some, they are highly recommended.

Our KJ seats seem to have nothing in the lumbar area for support. A small pillow or rolled up towel makes a big difference. Otherwise I can only manage 2-3 hours behind the wheel before my back gets sore/stiff and feet start to go numb.

If the seat's height is the only issue, it wouldn't be hard to make up some spacers... perhaps longer bolts to go with.

When my wife was teaching in Boston I would run from Northwest Ohio to there every other weekend. 10.5-11 hours one way , stop for gas was it so almost straight through seat time. On my 04 Sport seats at the time no issues at all although the Limited I have now would of been a bit nicer LOL
But never had an issue

As far as Prius goes, old ex boss had one, rode 75 miles in it, rode home with someone else , POS interior/ seats etc

That must be what the previous owner of my 04 did. Like sitting on ball bearings....:favorites68:. Sometimes I just want to cover them with double-sided tape.
