Got a very nice one no scratches at all shipped to my door for $19.99..

With Instant mpg and no sunroof switches. exactly what i was looking for..

now i have a question..

when i was testing it, it was reading " W 75 degrees" but then when i completely finished the whole install and drove it around it now says "W open circuit"

Did it trick me into thinking I already had the temp sensor installed?
and I really don't and that's whats causing the "open circuit"??

I got all excited when i saw the 75 degrees.
oh and instant mpg accelerating through 3k rpm was 4 yippee!!

Nope. My EVIC has instant MPG also... Just has to be an 03' or earlier model EVIC for that.

kjweston... what model year is your KJ??

If it says open circuit then i'm guess you have an 02-03 model year since 04 and later came with the sensor. Go around front and look for it, drivers side top, a few slots over from the end of the grill.

Ohh and mine showed a temp too when i powered it on the workbench, then after leaving it powered on for a while it showed -- for the temp and then it said NO BUS... So it was probably showing you the last temp saved in memory before it was removed from the previous vehicle.

My '04 came with the temperature sensor. But since it was programmed differently, the temperature on the EVIC I used (can't remember what year) didn't work. However I did have Instant MPG. :D

02-03 didn't come with them unless they had an OTIS or EVIC. 04-07 came with them stock because the temp sensor is used by the PCM for engine functions.

Sounds like you have an 03' or earlier EVIC then since you have Instant MPG.

04' is the dividing line... Starting with the 04' model year they changed the address of the temp sensor in the PCM, so 04' and later EVIC and OTIS modules were programmed to look to the new data location for that info. Take one from an earlier year and you just get -- for the temp.

Right. I knew that much, just can't remember which year EVIC I actually had. It came from a Grand Cherokee though, that much I do remember.

Yep, you need to do the calibration, find a big empty parking lot so you can make nice big slow circles, you dont need to do donuts with it... LMAO

While fun... Donuts won't work... LMAO... You need slow steady changes after putting it in the calibrate mode.

Oh and also make sure your variance number is set for your location, look in your users manual for the map showing the variance numbers. If you don't have that let us know and we can look it up. It does make a difference...
