Evic tpms

I recently install a EVIC with TPMS from a 04 renegade liberty into my 05 liberty limited and cant get the tire PSI to read. It reads (---) for each tire on display. When I go to retrain them using a speaker magnet nothing happens??

So I did a search and seems I need 04 TPMS sensors in my wheels for the EVIC to read psi? Is this correct? will I need anything else to get this working? All features on my EVIC work except the TPMS read out. Thanks

Not sure if an 04 EVIC will read sensors in an 05 or if they have to be 04 sensors. They might if they are programmed to the BCM.....(don't know for sure.) The sensors aren't cheap and you would need to get 5 of them just to try it.

I went through the same thing with my 05 when I swapped 07 OEM wheels on my 05. They have the sensors in them for an 07 and won't work on my 05 or show anything on my EVIC. They worked on the 07 they came off of. I haven't done anything about it because it doesn't bother me and I check my tire pressure manually every 2 weeks or so anyway. Also, didn't want to spend $54 apiece for 5 TPM's for my 05 as I would rather put the money towards tires or something.

I think they kept changing TPM systems every year?

I believe the earlier TPMS systems used a receiver inside the vehicle and you used a magnet to identify each wheel. Later systems used a receiver in each wheel well to identify the wheels. The changeover may have been from '04 to '05 - so the EVIC you have may not be able to read the sensors.

I do know the computer system for the KJ in general is different from '04 and prior than the '05 and later.
