I've been trying to diagnose a no crank/ no start on my 2010 Jeep Liberty. Maybe someone can get some useful info out this. It started with some random electrical issues which evolved into a parasitic draw I couldn't find. My Jeep has the dreaded Skyslider, so it leaks and I think maybe something got wet. It got to the point it would drain the battery to the point of no return so I installed a shut off on the battery. That worked for a while but I suspect the constant disconnecting fried something. It threw a check engine code for the BCM. The next day, it wouldn't start and my code reader wouldn't communicate with the system. From what information I could find I suspected the TIPM. I replaced it with a rebuilt unit from GoEcm. Still no crank/ no start, odd dash behavior, and security lock out. Chased it to the PCM. Replaced the PCM with a rebuilt unit from MAKS. Still no start/no crank. Everything seems to work but I can't get past the security lock out. The only other possibility is an issue with the security module. I plan on sending my PCM to have the security system permanently bypassed. I'll update any changes.

Well, I tried contacting MAKS to see if they would do a SKREEM disable but they claim that it was done before sending out. When I try to explain to them that the security system is actively locking out communication with the vehicle, they're giving me the run around. The only way I have been able to get a response is through their text messages which are very vague. I wouldn't recommend them for any of your TIPM or PCM needs.

Well, after getting refunded through a PayPal dispute from MAKS after over a month, I ordered a PCM from Flashmasters. Much better customer service. Unfortunately, even with the SKREEM disabled on the PCM, something is putting the rebuilt TIPM into a panic loop. I'm throwing in the towel and junking it.

Unless you know for a fact you can bypass the security system in the new PCM, you need to do the following:

  • Professional Flashing: Use a high-end bi-directional scan tool (like a Snap-On, Autel, or factory WiTECH) to program your exact VIN and SKIM secret key code directly into the new PCM.
  • Locksmith Reprogramming: Hire an automotive locksmith to come to the vehicle and sync your existing physical keys to the new security profile now stored in the computer.
