Hello,
I’ve been reading around and I haven’t found a scenario quite like mine. I have an 03 kj limited 3.7l, and I’ve been having a battery drain issue. I put it on theater and did the whole parasitic draw test, alternator test, and got my battery tested. All were good. Last winter I had a problem with the car alarm randomly going off, so I disconnected the horn, and thought that solved the problem. It did not, and now I think the car alarm system is still going off but without the horn, causing my battery to drain overnight. I do also have a leaking sunroof that I hopefully will have fixed soon, and I’m not sure if that could be related. TIA!

I've just been searching as I have exactly the same issue on my 2002 UK-specification 3.7 LTD

The alarm light is permanently On when when ignition is On, and the battery drains in less than 2 days parked.
I've checked alternator, and even with the alternator disconnected, drain is the same.

I'm convinced it's the backup battery within the alarm unit that's failed, for which you can't get replacements, so I want to remove. Most people say "car doesn't have a factory alarm" but mine does, listed as "Premium Security Alarm" in the build specification - page 5.

I am having a similar problem with my 2005 Liberty Limited. First of all, yes some do have factury installed salarms. My Liberty Limited package has it, so all limited should have it.
Ok now for my problem, my alarm started like chirping a few seconds, then often until it triggered with a constant horn until I had to disconect the battery. So my son can over to trouble shoot it. He has a trade school dipolma in auto mechanics, and has a $1500. Autel obdii reader. All door sensors read ok, but I went under the hood for the hood sensor, and played with it and the alarm stoped. According to all the tests this should not happen, it should be reverse, open hood with alarm on triggers horn. I also have an after market remote starter ( Blue flahing led beside the mirror). I do not have the remote, pervious owner lost it. I took out a remote starter out of my old Honda CR-v and that one would minic the key FOB.
So our thinking is that the remote starter is the cause. Any one else have this type of problem, I forgot to mention that all this started when I locked the doors with with the key remote after about 20 minutes.

Nice. I will definitely check that out. I don’t have remote start but I will for sure look at my hood latch sensor

Update on my issue, found where the remote start was installed under the dash. I found a fuse in an after market fuse holder. I pull it and the alarm triggering stopped. I can lock the doors with the keyfob and the alarm is on.

I'm even more convinced that my issue is the factory alarm.

Finally managed to get a clamp meter that reads DC Amps (as most only do AC amps) and this confirmed that the steady-state draw is 0.7A, with everything locked. Unlock the car, with the fob, and this jumps to 3.1A as the interior lights come on. Lock car again and it's back to 0.7A.

However, if I flick the bonnet (hood) switch in the inner wing then the draw jumps to over 10Amps, pulsing to 12Amps as the indicators flash. It's clear that the alarm should be sounding, but it isn't. The only way to clear is to unlock and relock, again with the fob, then the draw drops to just under an Amp.

I need to access that alarm unit and disconnect it, looping any connection as required.

I *think* it's buried somewhere below one of the headlights but they obviously made it as inaccessible as possible

Do you know what’s causing it? I’m trying to trace it but can’t find it. I’m getting the same readings off of mine. Let me know if you get it. I’m at the point of taking my alarm system out too
