2012 jeep liberty latitude. If my traction control warning light appears on my instrument cluster (left picture) i can guarantee that within seconds almost every warning light will come on and flicker on and off repeatedly. Tach will go wacky and MPH will also go nutty. Car drives like nothing is wrong. This doesn’t happen every time i drive but I would say 90% of the time. Recently though when i go to start the car initially it will not want to start. Not even a click. If I pause and try to start it again it will start after 2-5 times of turning the key with a short pause between each try. I am afraid that i am going to destroy computer or something else if i don’t get this fixed soon. Anyone else had this problem? Any help with this issue would be great. I haven’t been driving it because the possibility of electrical fire is in the back of my mind. THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!

This sort of thing is usually a bad earth, if you search on here you'll see several similar problems on other Jeeps

Did you scan it for any DTC codes? My daughters 2010 is doing something similar and it has a ton of U series codes, which is loss of communication on the CAN BUS (which I have learned entirely too much about in the past week). I spent most of Saturday checking wiring throughout the system, and have pretty much narrowed it down to the TIPM, which is a common failure point for these Jeeps. As mentioned above, it could be as simple as a bad ground. Time to get your DVM out and start measuring.

I would check the simple things first. Battery terminal post. Are they corroded or loose? Connections to the starter. Check where the battery ground cable attaches to the car. Fuses and relays are the all seated property and good. Is the battery itself good? Do a battery load test. Is the alternator good? Then go from there. It also could be your clock spring.

Take your Jeep to like an AutoZone and have it scanned. I had three dash lights that would come on, including traction control. To resolve, I had to replace the ABS sensors and in my case, AutoZone pointed to the rear sensors. I did that and issue resolved.

X2. Our 08 had similar issues. Lots of gremlins popping up. Weird spedo, wipers on, headlights always on. Weird starting hijinks. Even Looked into a replacement tipm. One shop replaced the ecm and starter and throttle body. Did nothing. Turned out it was a bad ground. The ground under the TIPM was crudded up with dirt etc. With a good cleaning and reinstalling it - they all went away.

Check the easy stuff first. These machines are famous for being fincky. But ive found they just “like” best to be kept as Jeep built them.
