Hello

1 - my 2006 kj has ESP. when i engage LOW the ESP will stop working and the ESP OFF light comes on.

However i have been told that in severe conditions the ESP still works on low- thus giving some aid with traction. Is it true? cause i havent felt it (i do have other ESP equipped offroaders and i know what it feels like)

2 - anyway- when i go wheeling i usually wheel hard. lots of desert over here, rocks etc. i already have a rear diff locker but i feel that a front locker is kind of needed. but....I kind of heard real horror stories about the infamous exploding front dana 30 IFS. what do you think - a lunchbox locker will make things worse?

Not the mountains.
Our front diff does well if you don't abuse it but the upgraded steel one will obviously be more robust. You can put an ARB locker on the front and the stock diff will perform well for a long time as long as you don't abuse it. If you wanna go big on tires then you'll want the steel diff in addition to the locker.

The "brake locking" feature is working in low range despite the ESP Off light. In my experience it becomes even more aggressive in low range.

I was also planning on putting a rear diff locker since I had one on my previous truck. But once I got some experience with the brake locking thing I totally gave up on this. It's done a really good job for me so far. I get better steering control than with the locks and still it gets me out. So, don't put the lock before you get some experience with it.

They actually last longer in most cases with a good locker. Reason being the cause of most tearing their D30a's up was from spinning and then one wheel catching quickly, so yes a locker will help

Very ******* brakes and a locker will lessen the brake wear by alot.

Detroit Truetrac's front/rear work very well with brake lock.
