Progressive = *****....

I had to fight them when my wife got hit by a progressive insured driver. State Farm took them to the mat for me, arbitration, lawyers, took half a year but i got my money.

That's why I always use my insurance company to do repairs, I'll let them go after the other driver. So far they've never screwed me.

In the case of a rear end accident which scenario would have less damage?
Tire on and replace tailgate, mount glass etc...
OR...
Tire off and they smack the stock rear bumper which folds everything in...???
Has anyone had a rear ender when tire was off ? How bad would that damage be??

Most of the time I run a hitch so they will hit it first, I have taken out three front ends with mine, slight bow on the door but thats it. They had to tow the rest away!

I had a hitch on mine when I got hit, It still got the door and tire carrier and she said all she did is take her foot of the brake. The cop did not give her a ticket just listed her at fault.

Leave the tire on the back. The full size spare on the swing gate helped the Jeep get it's crash rating. The tire absorbs and helps dissipate the impact of a rear end collision. That's per JTE.

If the internal bracing is bent, the gate is trash.

If you can live with that little damage, adjust the gate keep the cash.

Its in the shop. Now I'm pimpin in a 300. Its pretty nice. 3.5 L seems pretty good for what it is. I can't stand the freakin gas peddle though. I drove a commander and it was the same way. You really have to push the peddle before it starts moving.

Anyway, I'll keep ya posted about the repairs.

Just wanted to follow up on this. I got a brand new OEM tailgate and a new mounting bracket for the tire. That really is the only way to fix a tailgate. I confirmed that with the shop boss. He did help me work with Progressive to get this done. You have to fight to get what is right. They will not fix it right unless you speak up. We had the rep spinning in all directions. She was so shook up she gave us what we wanted.

The rim and tire were not damaged at all. (dunno) :)

A tab on the trim panel was busted too, so I got a new trim panel on the inside as well. Everything is brand new except for the hardware. It looks real nice. Now I put my toe on the brake peddle a little earlier to light up the tail lights to warn everyone I'm slowing down.

My dad's VW got rear ended twice in a month--he had to wait 2.5 weeks before it could even go into the shop because the parts weren't there, and now it's gonna be another week til they finish, and this whole time he's been stuck with a PT Cruiser rental LOL

My Jeep got hit twice in a month back in September '09.

Talk about frustrating. I just dropped it off, didn't even wait until parts came in. I had a rental car within seconds.
