Sorry Guys, forgot to ask in the last post - Are the rear diff bolts metric? I was hoping to paint the diff cover while its off and replace the bolts in stainless! I like Shiny! :D

Nope they are SAE,3/8-18 and are 1/2" long.Skip stainless bolts as they are only grade 2 bolts and you need at least grade 5 bolts and grade 8 is highly recommended.Just get the zinc plated(gold looking) grade 8 bolts, they look better then stainless anyways.

Speaking of these bolts....

What should you torque the stock bolts to when using a LubeLocker gasket? Seems to me i saw a post on here or LOST a while back about reducing the amount they recommend. I think factory is 30 ftlbs??

Yes it says 28-33 Ft. Lbs in the manual so I gues it should be somewhere near there. I am getting more confused now co the bloke at my "local" Jeep garage says mine has got trac lok on it, but not sure how he knows, and he said it should be 75W/140 in the rear diff with friction modifier in it, but 80W90 in the front diff?????? Anybody know for sure cos every time I speak to this bloke there is a strange aroma! Must be coming off the fields next door to the garage with the bulls in it!!:D I just want to know the right stuff to put in. I dont ask much out of life.:)

Thanks for the reply tjkj. I will try and find some of those bolts instead of the stainless ones.

Most years of KJ's specify 80w-90 for the front diff,75w-90 for the rear diff,75w-140 if you offroad or tow alot.Of course friction modifier is needed if you have the trashloc, there is a tag on one of the tubes that will state if it's open or has the trashloc if the words are still readable.

Both diffs are a 12,000-15,000 mile drain intervals, dino or synthetic.

My owners manual states only syn 75W140 for front diff and 80W90 rear. The '04 PDF owner manual states the same for the front diff, but changes to 75W90 rear. Both says 75W140 rear if you tow.

I'm putting 75W140 in both.. Done...

Ordered a lubelocker gasket also, figured it was worth it.
