Hello all. Recently had to replace the camshaft sensor on my '07 liberty, so off to NAPA I went. The first sensor failed in one week, and I noticed the pickup on the end looked as if it was struck by the cam.So NAPA replaced the part and within 3 days the same thing happened. Has anyone else had a similar problem with the after market parts ? Regards, John

Sounds like the cam may have a loose pickup.

The only cam and crankshaft position sensors you should use are OEM/Mopar. I also had the same issue you're having with a NAPA crank sensor - I broke down in Memphis (I live in Northern Ohio) and the dealer there didn't have a crank sensor (!) They had to use a NAPA sensor and when it failed a couple thousand miles later I noticed the scratches on the pickup when I pulled it out:

Replaced it with a Mopar unit and it's been fine for 5000 miles.

Ok, that was a lesson learned, thanks for the replies. Mine had scratches too ,and while driving at highway speed, it went into "limp mode". I figured one dud from napa , no biggie. When the second one failed, I knew something was wrong. I saved nothing. OEM Mopar parts from now on. Regards, John
