So I accidentally deleted the post that i meant to edit . If you could reach back about the brake issue i had about going down hill on neutral with the engine off. Is it normal to have stiff braking? Thanks again

I have not seen that post but YES coasting down a hill in neutral with engine OFF most definitely gets you bad braking.

While the engine is running the Brake Booster gets vacuum to boost the braking power.

In a Gasser this vacuum comes from the inlet manifold and on the CRD it comes from a seperate vacuum pump so no engine running...no vacuum.!

When being extremely low on fuel....running on fumes...I have coasted down hills with engine OFF to save fuel.
Brakes are terrible and let's not even mention the loss of Power Steering!;)

When costing down hill, the fuel injectors should be shut off anyway...

Bad for the automatic transmission too I think. No engine running means no transmission pump pumping. Maybe ok in neutral with the transfer case in neutral too.

With no engine running, you also have zero power steering, manual only-eek.

So many things that could go wrong, harm your KJ etc that it would never be a good idea to even think about trying something like that,
seen it happen before, guy took a long scary trip way down over a hill in West Virginia
Just needed to move his truck 25-30 foot, jumped in , never started it, put it in neutral and next thing we know he's gone over
    he was lucky, truck totaled

But then it was a Chevy so no real loss ;)

Yeah in my case going down a steep hill in neutral with engine not running was not a big deal....it is a manual so no problem as far as having an auto box.!

Only did this the one time as I was on the open road in the middle of nowhere and the fuel station I was going to fill up with diesel was out of action so I had to creep to the next station carefully!o_O

Also do not want run out of diesel as there is a whole process of bleeding the fuel system.

Should in theory carry a can of diesel on a long trip but I am more careful now in my old age and do not like carrying fuel inside the cabin even if it is only diesel!;)
