Anyone know what size head is on the 2 bolt on the top side of the trans? Also whats the easiest way to get them out, I'm leaning towards extra long extension on the impact wrench from behind the trans, from above seems a little tight.

Thanks

I don't remember the size but it's the same as the others on the side of the bellhousing.

As for getting to the top two bolts...Don't bother trying from the top. I used a 36" socket extension with a wobble head for the socket and got to all the bolts from under the Jeep. The extension's wobble end is better than a universal joint since it stays in line with the extension but it has enough freedom to enable you to have good bite on the bolt without being in perfect alignment.

That extension was the single most important tool I used when I swapped engines. Saved me a ton of time over using several extensions hooked together. It basically found the bolt head by itself once I got it over the top of the transmission.

^ yup, what Bob said. Same as the side bolts. I used a 20" extension + a 9" extension + a 6" extension (that's what I had) with a universal joint (didn't have a wobble) but I put electrical tape on the u-joint and it worked rather like a wobble.

It was perfect…and I did it because of Bob's thread.

Thanks, picked up another set of extensions for the impact wrench and was able to get at them with them and a join. Trans came out clean last night, tomorrow I am going to pick up the 'new' trans that I found and install it, hopefully without breaking me or it in the process.:Stupid Me:
