Got my camera man to take a better vid, laid the phone on the ground...

That's way too much movement from what I can see. There should maybe be 1/8" of movement up and down - it looks like your intermediate shaft is worn allowing the CV hub to move much more than it should.

How many miles on it HJ? I changed mine at about 105,000 or so - and it was past due at that point.

My intermediate shadf made it 200k. HJ also check the bearing the intermediate shaft rides one, your current shaft will be worn down badly where the bearing and seal ride. Mine was trashed and I belive that was most of the problem when mine went. Seems like the rigs with the 242 have more front drive train problems from issues where the front gets stuck engaged

Will be worn down badly? Not necessarily. Picture of mine is on page 1, with no wear on it at almost 130k miles.

BTW, both Crown and Omix intermediate shafts are reboxed Spicer. They can be found for right at $100 new on eBay

The Dana/Spicer replacement bearing is part #566131
And the oil seal is Dana/Spicer part #50608

As a side note, I had purchased a WRONG bearing from my local Pep Boys Auto Parts store. The part they gave me was a National Wheel End Components branded bearing manufactured by Moog and that part number was #BCA B2110
