Hello,
I want to change the trans fluid on my recently purchased 2005 Liberty Renegade. It has the v-6 with the Command Trac ******. I went to Advance Auto and the filter kit that they came up with was a Pro-King part # FK-319. I opened it up and it has a gasket with 15 holes which appears to be for the 45RFE. I had them look up for the 2006 Renegade. That brought up a Pro-King part# FK-361. The description said 42RLE with 13 bolt pan. Will this be the right one?
Thanks,
Bruce

The 'command trac' isn't your ******, it's your 4wd system and transfer case setup. Your ****** will either be the 45RFE or 42RLE. Given your year I believe you'll have the 42rle.

02-03 automatic equipped KJs have the 45RFE. 04-07 have the 42RLE.

Thanks to everyone for the information. I guess that Advance Auto had the wrong listing for the 2005 (it had 15 holes - 45RFE?). I just picked up the one listed for a 2006 and it has 13 holes, so should be the correct one for the 2005 - 42RLE. Unfortunately, the correct one was $31.99 versus $13.99 for the 45RFE. Such is my luck!

Don't forget you must use ATF+4 fluid. DO NOT use anything other than that.

Bah, was at the auto parts store browsing the fram air filter isle today (I'm really fun at parties, too) and the Fram Reference Book had the Jeep Kj gas engine listed as a 3.7l 24 Valve DOHC engine. It does not. The Liberty has a 3.7l 12 Valve SOHC engine. Go figure.

Yeah, you really got to be careful with those reference books. Lot's of erroneous info in them. I'd stick with the service manual from Jeep.
