Auto to manual ****** swap...?

Ok, First off I am new here. And to anyone that helps me I greatly appreciate it.
That being said here is my story...

I have an '06 6speed 3.7 Liberty. I was recently hit on my driver's side "B" pillar, also damaging the two doors. So I am trying to figure out what to do.
I love that Jeep and want to get it fixed but it's going to get costly.
SO I have been looking for a car to drive and garage the Jeep till I can save up to fix it.
However I found an '02 Liberty body in near mint condition,(guy said drive chain jumped) for a decent price.
Here is my issue it's an automatic. Can I put my manual ****** in the auto body(which I am sure can be done)? Can it be easily done and will it be costly if not?
I have friends in the subaru world that have swapped out engines, and a co-worker who used to be a mech. They all said they would help do the work in my garage. If it's simple enough we can try... if not I will go to a mech.
Thoughts? Input?

Was it totaled? Pics? I dont know about the ****** swap, but I dont see why it couldnt be done. It would probably be difficult though.

It can be done but your going to have to swap out PCM's,which will not work between the '02 and '06 due to the trans.They went to CAN Bus in '06 so the '06 PCM will not work in the '02 and you need a manual trans PCM to make it work.You also will need to swap over the trans,t-case,and driveshafts.

Sadly the '06 engine will not work in the '02 either without changing some things internally(crank tone rings different) but the '02's 45RFE auto trans is 100 times the trans as compared to the 6 speed manual.

Thanks for your help... So it'll probably not work out then. Besides I hate autos, not enough to do I get bored while driving. Haha.
So I guess I'll garage it then.

It is not totaled. Needs new doors, and the "B" pillar needs to be cut out and a new one welded in, some damage to the door frame, drivers seat was pushed into the center console so there maybe some damage to the floor and defiantly damage to the track. Also the guy that came out to assess the damage said he won't know how bad until the cut the doors off, and get a better look.

I'd think if you literally transplated everything for the drivetrain and electronics (the entire wiring loom throughout the jeep) it should work. it's going to be a hell of alot of work though. also there could be a question of VIN match issues, as the body will still be tagged as an 02 but the ECU will now report it's an 06. not sure about the legality of swapping the VIN plates either. I'd guess if they were at least the same color you *might* get away with it. I've done this in the past with cars (that I also kept and did not resell) but they were old enough that they didn't have the VIN stored in the ECU (think ODB1 and pre-ODB1 computers) and they happened to be the same color so there wasn't any reason to question it. Also I swapped the dash tag as well.

Vin # I'm 99% sure stays with the body, I could swap a Ferrari motor in my jeep and would have to keep my jeep vin. That's hypothetically speaking of corse.
