Made my own snorkel...
I've been very hesitant about posting pic's...

Ya, I used some "Plumbing" parts...
But it didn't cost me $400.00-$500.00 though!

Maybe I'll post...

Maybe I won't!

Post! Post! Post! Post! Post!

Agreed. He's the only '05-7 owner that has a TR front bumper ITBJRC, and it was a huge pain in the ass to put it there, lol

So is it better in the long run not to get an aftermarket air intake?

Jnaut's weighin' in!

My opinion is no. The stock intake is actually designed really well, in my opinion. The only intake mod I would do is a snorkel. No inbetweens. Either leave it stock, or go all the way and get a snorkel.

So a snorkel and moving the vent lines to the snorkel won't keep you from stalling in the middle of a puddle/pond/lake/river but it will help.

Of course it will, except when you go over the frickin' roof. A snorkel allows you to 'increase' the depth of water being forded, it does not make you a submarine.
\\:D/

ThunderbirdJunkie can you turn your snorkel to face backwards? I've seen a couple of people do that so they don't splash water into it.

Many people do. And not all snorkels have that cobra head. Some have a filter top head that's 360 intake.

Yes.
Snorkels are not for playing submarine.

I beg to differ Sir. Diesel electric submarines do use snorkels to run the diesel motors while cruising subsurface in order to charge the batteries. Although they are NOT playing submarine because they actually are submarines this arguement does render your statement moot.:D

I'm an ass aren't I?

Wait, TBJ don't answer that. I know the answer already. That's what she said!!!

Ryan, PM me with a location to your pics. I've considered doing the same after I saw some Israeli military vehicles that looked cool with basically home-made snorkels. I understand your hesitation to post those because someone will always complain bitterly when it's not rotomolded and silkscreened with Hana Montana logos.
