I happened the blow my 3rd brake light, it blew so badly it melted the housing with a dent and sparks all over it. It seems like it is OK, so I decided try LED. Has anyone replaced theirs with LED, any problems?
I will try the existing housing before getting a new one.

Also the existing lamp does not have any part no on it, and book at parts store does not cover 3rd brake lamp.

Damn. For some reason I did not get notified about the replies on this topic, and I just came from autozone all head scratching... I saw 3 types, exact size, but all had different voltage. 921, 922 and 912. Only if I had known someone replied on this topic.

Anyway, I can probably go back later and pick up 921 compatible LED bulb only.
No Marlon, I was not really thinking about those, I really like the red on the stock lens, I noticed there are red LED ones on ebay, but at $20+$15 shipping, not really worth it.

ripticket,
And if I remember correctly, you still owe us a lot of pictures both day and night...
My problem with those was that a few people complained condensation as well as LEDs going out resulting in an odd shaped light pattern. I loved the way they looked, especially those Black ones, but really, we need to see more pictures of those and your avatar just doesn't do justice.

Edit: just saw them on your cardomain, they don't look as black when installed, strange. But at over $200, they are just too pricey for me. And that LED 3rd brake light is very bright. You set the money trap and left it right there in front of me now!!

Excellent info in this thread ... thanks all! Anyone know off hand how many bulbs are needed for the 3rd Brake light and for each tail light?

Cheers,
Luke

The brake lamps on taillight is for signal and brake lamp, so it is dual lamp, and not the same part number.
The local store started carrying phillps instead of sylvania, so they didnt have part numbers on it, I just took mine and bought one that looked closest to it.. It just worked, I think voltage may have been different though.

Ripticket, you said you don't have black? But that package looks like they are black! Is it the last one below? :

Those will not work for tail lamps. 921 is only for 3rd brake.
It seems to be an auction for a pair, you can get it and keep one as spare, but with LED you really don't need a spare if they are nicely built.

Just remember you cannot use LED on tails signalsthey will act up go wild turn it into 70's.. Disco!
