What bolt on options and recomendations does anyone have for the 3.7l while keeping it reliable and fuel efficient like it stands now.

There's not really any mods you can do that'll make the 3.7 more powerful/efficient. The intake and exhaust system show very little restrictions on the engine. CAI's don't work well the KJ's because of water and the stock intake is well engineered. Only thing on the exhaust might be a new muffler. Other than that, new spark plugs and air filter changes fairly often and upgrade to synthetic.

I think the 3.7 is definitly plenty of a powerhouse for a jeep liberty stock especialy with my 4.10 tow gears and ****** cooler that were put in at 11k for horse trailer towing by the first owner.

Yeah, 4.10's will make a big difference! Probably the biggest "performance" mod you can do other than computer chip mod.

Veitz: what do you know about obtaining 4in total lift that will last by piecing lift kits together. any sugestions other than JBA besides his 4.5 ARMS.

I think the max lift you can you can do without major modifications or any problems is 3inches. Most people reccomend Old Man Emu coils with Blistien shocks.

The possibility exists that you can custom tune it with an SCT handheld (if your PCM is supported). There is an easy way to find this out (pm me if ya want). You can also get cams for it, your choices being either installing 05+ cams as is (slightly more aggressive than the 02-04), or getting a set of 3.7 cams and having them reground to custom specs (more $$). Gears are definitely the best acceleration booster above all, but with a 4x4 you have to do 2 axles (unless you have rwd). A good exhaust helps, but the only real improvement that would be useful on a stock engine is probably a better flowing Y pipe (unless you have a bunch of mods that can work together with it). Stock 3.7 pistons do not work well with boost, as the ring lands are not in a good spot for it and they tend to break.
